Both of us knew we had to make a move quickly, so we began mapping-out our plan immediately. We pooled our own money together, hired a programmer and began developing PLUGOLA. Since July of 2007 we have been developing this online social music community strictly for indie artists and music fans. Plugola, Inc. was selected as our business name. Not very original, but because our goals include a full service plugging machine, it was appropiate. We got tired of hearing about the state of the music industry, while struggling independent musicians and music fans are the ones who suffer. The battle between major record companies, national/international acts and online music web sites; about whom gets paid for what, is ridiculous. We decided to develop a system where the artist has full control over how their music is distributed to the public, without any contracts or transferring of ownership rights. We also wanted to give music fans a place where their opinions and tastes matter. PLUGO.LA is exactly this. We were well aware that an online community for musicians was not a new concept, but we noticed a lot of flaws in the current system. Musicians weren't given the right tools to promote there music and/or profile and fan participation was hard to find, let alone a reason for fans to participate. Our goal is not to solve the music industry's problems, but to take advantage of today's technology and give surfers what they want, by developing a platform where our members control the direction and flow of the community. Plus, you can expect plenty more exciting features to make your experience enjoyable and your own.
